Sun City MacDonald Ranch is a smaller retirement community for people age 55+ in Henderson in the hilly, southern part of the Las Vegas Valley at Black Mountain. It is adjacent to the very upscale MacDonald Highlands guard-gated community which is centered around the Dragon Ridge Golf Course.
The area around Sun City MacDonald Ranch is one of the faster growing in the Las Vegas Valley — a modern boomtown in the desert with new homes, new shopping, and new restaurants along new streets.
Architecturally, Sun City MacDonald Ranch is similar to Sun City Summerlin: one story stucco homes in pale colors with red tile roofs. At MacDonald Ranch, however, there are duplexes as well as single family homes. Easy-care desert landscaping is prevalent. No one wants to spend their time mowing a lawn when there are so many other fun things to do!
Retire from work, not from life
The slogan at Sun City MacDonald Ranch is “Retire from work. Not from life.” And they mean it! Here, you’ll find the Desert Willow golf course surrounding a private lake, a busy community center, many clubs and special interest groups, similar to those at Sun City Summerlin, plus very active neighbors and as many new friends as you want to meet.
While Sun City MacDonald Ranch is in the hilly section of Henderson, the Desert Willow golf course is relatively flatter than the Revere course at Sun City Anthem.
