Painted Desert is a large, guard-gated golf course community just to the west of the 95 Freeway at Ann Road. Developers began to build both custom and production homes here in 1988 so the homes reflect architectural preferences over decades. Now there are townhouse-style villas and apartment-style condos as well as single family homes.
Country village in the desert
Narrow streets lined with tall trees wind through Painted Desert, giving it somewhat of a country village feel. Joggers, walkers and bicyclists who like practicing their sports on flat land will find it ideal.
In addition to the golf course which is open to the public, there are pools and tennis courts for the use of residents only. Residents fees for the golf course are discounted, naturally.
To the east of the 95 Freeway in the Centennial Hills area there is another, much newer, golf community, Silverstone. The Silverstone golf course is also open to the public as are over a dozen other public golf courses in Greater Las Vegas so, if you are a golfer, you can have variety in the kinds of courses you play.
And, as with all neighborhoods in Northwest Las Vegas, the ski resort on Mt. Charleston is less than a half an hour drive away.
